We offer both traditional “static hormone” replacement therapy and lesser known “physiologic restoration hormone therapy”.

Static hormone therapy

Static hormone therapy is bio-identical hormone therapy with the same dose of estrogen and progesterone on a daily basis.  This does not mimic a women’s natural cycle and does not induce a menstrual cycle. Compared to physiologic restoration therapy the dosage of both hormones is relatively low.  It helps alleviate menopausal symptoms and can improve quality of life for many women however it does not have the same anti-aging effect as physiologic restoration therapy.  Static hormone therapy is available in many forms – troches, creams, pellets, injections, and suppositories.

Physiologic restoration therapy (PR)

PR is designed to revive hormones back to physiologic levels, so as to help each individual reach their optimal health, and effectively slow the natural aging process that contributes to disease and frailty. There is a critical connection between the hormone levels of your body and the way you feel.  PR utilizes compounded bioidentical hormones via a transdermal cream to mimic the natural cycle of a 20 or 30yo female.  Because a healthy 20 or 30 year old has a menstrual cycle, a menstrual cycle is expected when utilizing this therapy!

Although this may sound daunting, the benefits of having hormonal patterns of a 20 or 30yo female results in remarkable anti-aging properties to every system in the body.  Osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, mood, skin, weight gain and sleep are all improved (just to name a few)!  Each protocol is individual and custom to each patient.  When monitored and adjusted correctly, PR patients have menstrual cycles that are not painful, heavy or not associated with PMS.

Is hormone replacement therapy safe?

Hormone replacement therapy often raises fear and concern in many patients.  This is understandable as there have been many confusing studies and reports on the use of hormones in women.  All of the negative side effects of hormones (cancers, stroke and blood clots) were in studies using synthetic static (continuous low dose) hormones (or non-bioidentical) hormones.  We only use bioidentical hormones in our protocols.  We also test your hormones periodically to determine safety and efficacy of treatment.
